Art Studio Lunch Club Begins

I love to capture a bit of creativity. Here we have some enthusiastic artists at work designing a poster to be hung on the front of the school to inform about our upcoming fall Harvest Festival, which is October 1st from 4-630 or so in the afternoon. It should be fun.

This work was done during our Friday art studios which occur at lunchtime. Children are encouraged to come in and try their hand at new techniques or work with me on a large-scale project for the school. Soon to come are a few new decorations for our front fence and an interactive art piece for our Kindergarten playground. Fun and engaging work is found in our Art Studio every Friday at lunchtime.

Reader's Theater Production

The next two Tuesdays will see our lunchtime drama club performing short reader's theater style productions of Maurice Sendak's classic, Where the Wild Things Are. These shows will be held during lunchtime for an audience of students and participating actors' parents. Our young thespians have developed strong stage presence and the ability to use the tools of the craft when performing. It should be a great time.

Enjoying a "mirror" activity while learning to respond to others around you on stage.

Each Tuesday at lunchtime the talented Mrs. Von Reis and I work with a large group of excited performers to develop acting and drama skills. For the first four weeks we have engaged in lots of enjoyable game structures to prepare for our first informal scene work. Soon our actors, ranging in grades from first through sixth, will be putting words to their actions and expressing emotion with all of their tools of performance. It is a lot of fun and it brings a balance to our school and our young children.
