The drawing begins
Dia De Los Muertos is a whimsical celebration of life and ancestors enjoyed by Spanish-speaking cultures in the Americas. In conjunction with the work done in Spanish class with Maestra ZoBell, I began a short guided drawing and creative decoration activity with the kids. Ideas of symmetry, creating depth and strength through essential line work, and proportionality were explored as we drew our calaveras together.
Next comes oil pastel application and the creation of tissue paper marigolds- the traditional flower of Dia de los Muertos.
